The Hector Berlioz European Youth Orchestra was founded in 2009 by the Festival Berlioz, with a view to providing an orchestral training course, unique in Europe, for young musicians.
As a real Orchestra-school, its goal is to encourage the professional insertion of the young students from the CNSM and high-level European Colleges of music who want to become professional orchestral musicians.
The orchestral training course and tutti rehearsals are under the direction of the internationally renowned maestro François-Xavier Roth, the recognized specialist of interpretation on period instruments.

"The program is rich, and the orchestra is plethoric - six flutes ! - the Hector Berlioz European Youth Orchestra (JOEHB) plays on the nineteenth century instruments. They prepared the concert with the musicians of Les Siècles who supervise them tonight and they all play under the direction of the Berlioz specialist maestro François-Xavier Roth (...) he infuses energy and flexibility to a surprisingly responsive orchestra."
